Seriously, how are people making money?
I know this topic has come up before, but after trying much of what I've come across, I'm somewhat at a loss so I'm hoping for some good answers here.
I've messed around with a number of ideas, but the 3 I've really put the most into are:
1) Farming
2) TP Flipping
and, silly as it sounds
3) Dye gambling
Believe it or not, I've found dye gambling to be the most effective performer, though like all gambling it hasn't ended up being necessarily a good idea in the long run. I was able to go from about 2 to 6 gold out of it, spent 3 on a new character slot, and since then have dropped down to 1 goldish.
Farming doesn't seem to help - even without hitting diminishing returns and selling items for the highest available price via TP or vendors (and salvaging as appropriate), I'm only getting 20 silver or so over the course of a few hours - and that's with a pretty decent magic find.
Finally, flipping has proven to be an utter waste of time. Buy orders I place are virtually never filled (and I've tried a wide range of items out of the relatively few which actually have margins sufficient to make even a small profit) and even when they are, by the time they are the price is often undercut to the point that there's no gain to be made any longer.
So, what, exactly are people doing? It seems as though certain high level crafted items be able to turn a decent profit, but it looks as though I'm going to need to have a nice bank before it would be possible to start doing any of this.
So... what, exactly, should I be doing?
