2nd Anniversary Predictions
Within less than a month it will have been two years since GW2 released. What do you expect or would like ANet to do?
Considering the patch tuesdays fall onto 12th and 26th, I assume we'll get the Dragon's Reach pt.2 on 12th and the next patch will be anniversary related. The timing is rather perfect, since if I recall correctly, August 26th was the first (?) head-start day, making some characters 2 years old. ANet would get some time to further work on LS Season 2 and people would be given some time to catch up on the events of the past few patches, having the Story Journal and all that.
As for the actual events and rewards, that's tough to say. When it comes to events in-game, it's going to be kind of hard to squeeze some fun and games into the serious Mordremoth threat atmosphere. A way to do it would be making the races of Tyria agree to help fight Mordremoth but saying something along the lines of having to prepare, or simply doing something that allows the 4 week break from story without seeming too random.
Now, what would the celebration be? I have no idea. 11th jubilee of Jennah seems kind of random, especially with the LS going on.. "Yeah, I'll help you guys fight the dragon, but first - PARTYYY~!" Zephyrites are out of the picture as well. To be perfectly honest, I'd predict that the game won't do any event oriented celebration, just send out some gifts to the characters that will be 2 years old.
Talking about the birthday gifts, what would that be? ANet could go completely lazy and re-send the previous birthday gifts, further expanding our armies of Mini Queen Jennahs and Level 20 alts you used your tokens on and probably never touched ever since. Personally, I'd love to see some exclusive dyes, weapon or armor skins, Account Bound obviously, to distinguish the players that have stuck around for 2 years. Many will disagree with me on this, but I'd also like to see, going with the booster theme, a Level 80, or at least 60 character boost. I mean, you've had the game for 2 years, have some free high level alt. You can choose not to use it and considering it will be the 2nd birthday gift only, it's not like it will affect new players.
To be realistic though, we'll most likely get a bag of mostly useless stuff, such as XP/Crafting/Whatever boosters, Bank and TP express and so on. Honestly, I'd rather pass on such bag, it feels kind of cheap to be something you get after 2 years. Even if it were to be a part of a larger package with better things.
