GW2 vs RIFT?
I've recently started playing RIFT since it's F2P now and it's been fantastic. Yeah it's a gear grind game but you don't have to gear grind for top of the world gear (outside of dungeons is what I mean) as it drops from mobs and you can craft it and you can even buy it in the AH. Of course if you want top of the line raid gear yeah you'll have to do grouping dungeons.
There's nothing really you have to buy from the gem store if you're willing to grind for it except more storage area and more bags to carry but what they give you from the start is very sufficient in holding all yer stuff. You'd have to be a real bad pack mule type person to need more storage.
One thing that stuck out most was PEOPLE CHAT yeah lots of people chatting while doing stuff. I get nice conversations going while crafting my new gear. I'ma level 50 cleric/Inquisitor btw and crafting can be fun and rewarding. I have 1400 plat now.
There are so many variables to your characters builds and you aren't stuck with some template the DEVS thought was good. You can tri-create your character also and be things like Inquisitor -Sentinel-Druid which is fun and powerful to play. You can honestly spend hours just creating your character and then during the game you will recreate it several times over and the great thing about this is you can have 3 or 4 profession builds and for a small fee change them anytime you like. It's like 30gp I think and they way you make money in the game you won't even notice it as you change your roles up a lil. This means you can be the Inquisitor-Sentinel-Druid or a Druid-Shaman-Justicar or a Cabalist-Warden-Spiritualist an on an on an on as you can combine the above anyway you like in 3's.
Yeah I know I'm talking a lot about RIFT and not really a vs GW2 but it's hard to give anything to GW2 except casual friendly but RIFT is casual friendly too because of all the top of the world quests and events that go on everyday. I think it's a good game for both sides as I don't care about raid gear myself but I'm getting all kinds of top of the world gear and toys to play with as a casual.
RIFT makes GW2 really boring now as there's just nothing to do that's fun in it unless you like doing repeatable dailies? I like that in RIFT I have something new to craft and I can belong to 3 craft professions so I can craft gear, butcher animals for skins and meat or mine for minerals I need for my gear. I can also make a nice profit selling my gear because the hardcore rush to the max level there's nobody left behind to craft the little things other "casual" players need and I craft it and they buy it and I get richer and richer :{P
RIFT has INSTANT ADVENTURES that you can join and you romp around certain parts of the world doing instant quests for XP and phat loot and get an instant group of people to play with. It's a lot of fun and lots of XP and profit to be made playing it.
Now that's just the PVE world of RIFT and hardly everything about it, someone else can describe PVP for you I hear it's a lot of fun also.
In my opinion now RIFT defeats GW2 like the HEAT defeated the SPURS. :{P
