PvE Imbalances
Hey all, firstly I'd just like to say I've really enjoyed the game so far, so I hope this doesn't come across as too much of a moan, the PvP and story have been great, but I am curious to see what people think/have to say about PvE dungeons.
In short, whilst I have enjoyed the dungeons that I have played so far, they have seemed horrendously imbalanced, in the most obvious cases bosses are far too easy and mobs can be far too hard.
For example, I was just doing Arah explorable mode where my group had to fight a giant ooze for a boss, all the boss did was jump up and down very slowly towards party members, if you were near the boss you would be downed, so you just used ranged combat to shoot it whilst walking backwards. I felt the fight lasted far too long for a battle with so few mechanics, I even felt like making a cup of tea half way through.. So my problem here was; the boss has 1 mechanic, much too much health and is far from being "melee-friendly".
In fact the only times I have ever had a whole group wipe (and I'm not a great player), have been in trash fights - some of which have caused multiple wipes, which just feels wrong when the bosses are often such pushovers - with a few exceptions.
So it seems to me that Anet has a huge amount of re-balancing that it needs to do, but I am also a little disappointed as it seems to me that most fights significantly favour ranged combat and a few boss fights (although not all), are just outright boring - I wouldn't even mind these duller fights if they didn't take so long!
Tldr: Dungeons whilst atmospheric, have poor balance and mechanics which are too focused on ranged combat. Any thoughts?
