Hey guys.

I see a lot of ranting about this new leveling system that came up with the update, and I coudlnt agree more with you, the principle of restraining things from players that could feel a bit more advanturous (or just considering people are lemmings) is quite sad and plain stupid. But Id like to remind you that most of the things you think are locked arent really.

The only things you unlock slower than before are the skills (utilities, downed, or underwater), weapon slots, and the access to personnal story. This is hurting the in-game immersion, but leveling up is now so fast you wont even notice it. Everything else is actually here, or not needed yet. The game is simply not showing it to you, and points out every aspect step by step, level after level. You can access to guild panel at level two, or unlock vistas/PoI, the game is just waiting for you to acknowledge about other stuff before pointing this up to you.

All the rest of the main mechanics are actually coming smoothly, right at the time youd need it. Lets check a few of those:

  • level 6 - able to equip fine rarity equipment : would you really have dropped blue gear before that anyway? Ive gotten to level 6 after doing 4 heart quests, and the starter ones dont even need to fight.

  • level 7 - PoI : "Points of interests are now shown on your map"

  • level 8 - Underwater combat : it turns out you couldnt even access a lake before level 8, the mobs would have wrecked you before you get there.

  • and so on

TL; DR: I advise you guys to go and try it. Even if adding restrictions to a game where youre supposed to be free is kinda breaking the immersion, everything comes pretty fast and you wouldnt have needed it before. The new interface is actually really nice and guides you through every aspect of the game smoothly.

The damn thing had 7 players running after it the whole way, but since we have no skills and our stats are low, we didn't manage to kill it before it disappeared. The loot bags that it dropped along the way also could not be picked up at all, they just sat there mocking us. I guess it's for the best though, if I were a new player and a chest turned into a little rat person that I COULD kill before it vanished, I would probably be so confused that I would uninstall the game! Also don't get me started on how confusing loot bags are, I mean what do you even DO with those things? I sat on one and it did nothing, and that made me feel sad and disillusioned with the game. If I could open it and it had things inside, I literally might have died :(

Honestly though I assume the burglars are just a bit buggy at the moment, but it's so much more amusing to think that the patch may have intentionally gated the level at which you can pick up skritt loot bags :D

I kinda like the way 2007 runescape did it, where you had to do certain things before you could: craft armor, get certain shield skins, etc. Something cool would be to make people go through one fractal-sized dungeon by themselves, with maybe a few NPCs, and at the end, you had to do a puzzle or something, or kill a unique boss by yourself or something. Thoughts on challenging PvE content that could reward unique skins?

I've noticed since the patch, that Nearest Target functions differently.

I'm not sure what the community's opinion of this change is, so I'd like to inform you and see your reactions. I, personally, don't like the change.

Previously, Nearest Target used to target enemies nearest to you that were on screen. This would allow you to quickly prioritize immediate threats approaching you.

Currently, Nearest Target now targets enemies literally nearest to you regardless of if they are on screen or not. This means if you are looking directly at an enemy in front of you (with no other enemy on screen) and press Nearest Target, you can end up with a random target you can't see because there is another one standing behind you.

Trying to target the nearest goat I can see

End up targeting the nearest goat behind me

Next Target is the obvious alternative but it has prioritizing built into its function. So sometimes, when you want to attack the thing coming at you, instead you end up targeting the Champion behind it. Additionally, it allows you to toggle through enemies on screen. Which combined with Nearest Targeting can be effective for quick enemy selection.

I used to use Nearest Target to prioritize enemies in front of me and Next Target to prioritize Champions or change to another target. I can't use Nearest Target any more as it's unreliable for me.

With the addition of siege disablers, I was thinking it's annoying to have to open inventory every time I want to drop siege or a disabler.

Couldn't we have a siege equipment slot that creates an icon, much like an active skill? This would allow us to drop siege from the skill bar as long as we have the siege item (or a stack) equipped from inventory.

Thoughts?

Ever since I started playing I wanted to remake the separatists propaganda in Ebonhawke into a larger image because it just looked so cool! I finally got around to doing it so, here is a large version of it! Of course, all image rights go to arenanet and is certainly not designed by me. Just a remake of a screenshot!

The text in the Tyrian language says "No Peace With Beasts!" http://imgur.com/VC9vN2B

If you could add a new weapon to guild wars, what would it be? Which professions could use it, and what kind of skills would each profession have?

See title.

I personally would love to see something like a greatshield. A massive two hand shield; just imagine a guardian hulking into battle with a giant shield. I think it would help to round out the defensive side of what we can wield along side the regular shield.

On guards, it would be primarily defensive; creating barriers that block projectiles, granting protection, maybe with a couple offensive/cc capabilities.

On warrior, I could see it being used for massive damage, but slow and bulky. Basically the reverse of the offense-defensive ratio found in guardians.

Thieves wouldn't use them, for obvious reasons.

I can't really see rangers having a use for greatshields, but maybe something for jumping around to your pet and helping it defensively rather than offensively; as most weapon skills that affect pets do.

Mesmers wouldn't use them for the same reason as thieves.

Necros would use the size of greatshields to rip holes in the curtain between life and death. I haven't given a whole lot of thought as to what comes through these rips, possibly minions or the spirits of the dead coming through in a short second wind where they could help allies and hinder foes.

Personally, I find the normal shield to just not be beefy enough for my liking. The greatshield just seems to fit, plus it would have major potential for looking super cool with skins and all that.

New Key Farming data Tips and Tricks

After a few tests and ideas here is somethings I've learn and now am doing.

  • Like old key farms, Human, Commoner, Guard

  • I used this cooking guide http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2geiou/gw2crafts_1200_cooking_guides_now_live_for/

  • You will also need: level 10 GS and Staff, Armor set, Rings and Accessories (food helps) Pick up all your gear here when cooking and equip all but Staff or GS once level 10.

  • Make sure to hotkey the pvp (Hearts of the Mists) I used "P" key.

  • Go to PvP (Hotm) via hotkey, place your 2nd weapon on the swap (you will now be able to weapon swap).

  • Use your Staff for Speed and might between fights as much as you can. (if this trick ends up being a bug then I will believe warrior GS will be slightly faster, will need some more testing).

After 8 keys, im averaging 27min runs.

8 Keys have given me:

  • 4 Black Lion Ticket Scraps

  • 1 Black Lion Claim Ticket

  • 4 Boosters

  • 2 Communal Boost Bonfires

  • Merchant Express

Pic of 28min Run > http://imgur.com/C1YQ3zU

Pic of 8 keys after opened > http://imgur.com/pxhUGYS

PS: Im not very good "yet" at posting these types of topics and screen caps, i will learn and get better as I do this more often.

Edit: I did it with warrior, GS and a Horn to put on for speed (NO pvp weapon swap trick) and was able to do it 27min.

I also got Flame Dye Kit and Lion's Arch Survivors Dye Kit in one key.
